In recent days, an unusual guest has been traveling the roads of Ukraine. Jonas Andersen Sæed, a member of the Norwegian Parliament, is completing his massive cycling journey from Oslo to Kyiv. This is not just a sporting achievement but a powerful political gesture aimed at drawing the international community's attention to the war and raising funds for the Ukrainian army.
Route through Northern Europe and the Baltics
The politician's route passed through the countries of Northern Europe and the Baltics. On the eve of his arrival, Jonas Sæed reached Ternopil, where he was greeted by local authorities. According to the Ternopil Regional State Administration, the route was not chosen by chance: the politician used the time on the road to meet with local communities in various countries.
During these meetings, Sæed spoke about the real situation on the front lines, explaining the need for continued support for Kyiv. He emphasizes that Ukraine's security is inextricably linked to the security of all of Europe. In his view, if Ukraine loses, the threat of aggression could spread to the Baltic and Scandinavian countries.
Fundraising and Concrete Actions
In addition to the diplomatic mission, the cycling tour has a humanitarian goal. The MP is collecting donations for an organization that has already delivered more than 170 vehicles, along with necessary equipment, to Ukrainian soldiers.
Sæed noted that Norway remains one of Ukraine's largest partners but emphasized the importance of the continuity of aid. "I represent the Norwegian Parliament and speak on behalf of my country: we support Ukraine and will continue to do so. But it was also important for me to personally make this journey – to show that support must be not only at the level of decisions but also at the level of concrete actions," the politician stated.
Personal Contribution and Geopolitical Context
For Jonas Andersen Sæed, this is not his first visit to Ukraine — he has been to Kyiv at least ten times, and this bicycle trip to the Ukrainian capital is his second. His personal example is intended to mobilize public opinion.
Against the backdrop of this event, it is worth noting the scale of support from Oslo: Norway has allocated 3 billion kroner (about 268 million euros) to strengthen Ukraine's air defense. Furthermore, it was recently reported that Norway is actively lobbying the idea of involving China in the conflict resolution to help bring Russia to the negotiating table with Ukraine.
