The attack on Novhorod-Siverskyi fits into a series of strikes on Chernihiv Oblast. On 25 August, Russia launched a massive drone attack on Chernihiv: within minutes, ten explosions rocked the city, and at least two people were injured. The day before, on 24 August, a drone struck a multi-storey residential building in the city centre — at that time, according to Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, 20 people were injured, including two children.
