Ukrainian tennis player Alexandra Oleynikova ends her title fight in Romania
Tennis player Alexandra Oleynikova, ranked 52nd in the WTA rankings, left the WTA 250 tournament in Iasi (Romania). In the semi-final match, the Ukrainian was unable to overcome the resistance of Egypt's Mayar Sherif (97th in the world rankings). The match ended with a convincing victory for the opponent with a score of 6:3, 6:1.
Match course: from struggle to rout
The first set started with a nervous start. Oleynikova allowed her opponent to win the first two games, but quickly adjusted and took the lead, bringing the score to 3:2. However, the more experienced 30-year-old Sherif took control of the situation, winning four games in a row. The Egyptian converted the first set point on the opponent's serve and closed the set.
The second set was even more difficult for Alexandra. The decisive moment came as early as the fourth game, when Sherif broke the Ukrainian's serve, setting the score at 3:1. After that, Oleynikova could not return to the fight and lost the set with a score of 1:6.

This defeat was the first for Oleynikova in four matches against Mayar Sherif. The Egyptian tennis player continues her impressive winning streak, which now stands at nine matches in a row.
For Alexandra, this tournament in Iasi became her second semi-final at the Tour level in her career. Previously, she reached this stage in February at the WTA 250 tournament in Cluj-Napoca.
