Late in the evening on August 19, Ukrainian singer Olya Polyakova, together with her eldest daughter Maria, was involved in a traffic accident while traveling to Odesa. According to the artist, another vehicle crashed into their car, after which the singer's car flew off the roadway and ended up in the ditch. Polyakova herself reported the incident, publishing footage of the aftermath of the crash in her Instagram stories, which became the original source for Ukrainian media reports.
Timeline of the Incident
The collision occurred in the evening, when the singer and her daughter were on their way to Odesa. In her published statement, Polyakova says directly: "God, people, we just got into an accident and Masha broke her nose… In short, someone crashed into us, and we flew into the ditch." Thus, the version that the other road user was the one who initiated the collision comes directly from the injured party and has not been refuted.
Condition of the Injured
As a result of the accident, Maria sustained facial injuries: according to her mother, the young woman broke her nose and also suffered dental injuries. In the widely shared footage, the artist's daughter can be seen getting into an ambulance — medical assistance at the scene was provided promptly. The singer herself, according to available information, sustained no serious injuries at the time of the incident.
Incident at the Crash Site
After the collision, Polyakova approached the other vehicle, which, in her assessment, was involved in the accident. By the car she saw a man and began filming him with her smartphone, assuming that he might have been the one behind the wheel. In response, according to the artist, the man knocked the phone out of her hands. This episode became the subject of separate publications, however its details remain at the level of the participants' own accounts and are not documented in an official report.
Contradictory Data
Open sources contain discrepancies regarding the identity of the second party to the accident. On the one hand, Polyakova points to the man she was filming at the scene. On the other hand, a number of retellings cite eyewitnesses who allegedly said that a young woman was driving the other car, having been making a U-turn on the road. Neither of these versions has been documented: it has not been officially established who exactly was driving the second vehicle and who is responsible for the collision.
Position of Law Enforcement
The police worked at the scene, and the injured party was provided with medical assistance. However, as of the morning of August 20, the authorities had not publicly released details of the accident or named the person at fault. Until an official statement from the National Police is issued, details about the second driver and the circumstances of the collision remain unspecified, and the editorial team relies exclusively on the artist's direct statement and the factual chronology of the incident.
