At the DevDay conference, OpenAI unveiled a massive update to its ecosystem, announcing a suite of new tools designed for collaboration between office workers and artificial intelligence. The central highlight of the event was the launch of Space—a unified virtual workspace within ChatGPT aimed at consolidating fragmented workflows into a single digital environment.
New Workspace and Autonomous Dots Agents
Inside the new virtual space, employees can securely store files, create dynamic pages, and tackle daily tasks in close cooperation with the chatbot and new autonomous AI agents called Dots. As noted by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Space platforms function similarly to a cloud drive but feature a fundamentally new level of interactivity. Users can assign specific instructions to pages, such as monitoring team channels and automatically updating content based on fresh data.
Document and Presentation Creation Tools
In addition to the workspace, developers introduced the Pages text processor, positioned as a direct competitor to Google Docs and Microsoft Word. The tool allows users to write texts, conduct deep research, build charts, and visualize complex data arrays. Furthermore, OpenAI announced the upcoming launch of the Collaborative Slides presentation generator. This tool allows users to create slides using simple text prompts in chat, co-edit them with colleagues, and export them to PowerPoint or Google Slides formats.
Slack Integration and Corporate Security
For seamless integration into existing corporate infrastructure, ChatGPT received direct integration with Slack and Microsoft Teams. Business and Enterprise plan users can now summon AI assistants directly in work chats to generate materials based on discussions. The macOS desktop app also introduced a meeting transcription plugin that deletes audio recordings immediately upon transcription. OpenAI assured corporate clients that all uploaded files are protected by Private Intelligence and are not used to train future AI models.
