On August 25, 2026, Oschadbank customers began reporting problems en masse on social media with access to the bank's official website and mobile application. According to users, the services would not open or worked intermittently, sparking a wave of complaints in messengers and on forums. Against this backdrop, the bank promptly issued an official statement, explaining that the issue was not planned maintenance but rather the triggering of internal protection mechanisms.
What Happened to the Electronic Services
According to a statement from Oschadbank, distributed by Ukrainian media, the bank experienced a partial restriction of access to its electronic services. This means that some functions of online banking and the mobile application may have been temporarily unavailable to customers: from viewing balances to performing transactions. The bank emphasized that this was a partial, not a full, shutdown of services, and that the issue is temporary in nature.
The Bank's Official Position
Oschadbank named the cause of the outage: the triggering of security systems. According to bank representatives, the protective mechanisms activated automatically, leading to a restriction of some electronic service channels. The bank assured that by 17:00 the operation of all systems should be fully stabilized and customers would be able to use the services in normal mode again. The bank did not disclose the technical details of the triggering, limiting itself to a general formulation about protecting its infrastructure.
Context: A Series of Outages and Updates
The current incident is not an isolated one for Oschadbank in recent months. Earlier, in March, the bank's servers triggered protective protocols on suspicion of a hacker attack. In April 2025, Oschadbank, together with Nova Poshta, reported the resumption of services after another outage. In addition, on June 14 the bank carried out a large-scale update of its own systems, as a result of which online banking and branches were unavailable throughout the day. Thus, customers are not for the first time facing temporary restrictions in the operation of the bank's digital channels.
Contradictory Data
Here it is important to distinguish between two versions. Oschadbank's official position is limited to stating the "triggering of security systems" — the bank does not confirm the fact of an actual cyberattack, but only says that the protective mechanisms worked. At the same time, some Ukrainian publications and customers themselves interpret the outage as the result of a hacker attack, citing previous incidents involving protective protocols. In other words, one side (the bank) speaks of the protection triggering without confirming an attack, while the other (media and users) interprets this as an attack. Until additional confirmations emerge, both interpretations remain valid, and the bank has not disclosed the final nature of the incident.
What This Means for Customers
For customers, the key point is that the bank publicly acknowledged the outage and named an approximate time for restoration — 17:00. Until stabilization, it is recommended not to perform urgent transactions through unavailable channels and, if necessary, to contact branches or the hotline. Given the series of similar incidents in recent months, experts advise Oschadbank cardholders to keep alternative ways of accessing their funds in reserve and to monitor the bank's official channels for up-to-date information on service restoration.
