Poland confirms the fall of a Russian Kh-101 missile: investigation details and production date version

The first stage of the investigation into the incident involving the fall of an ammunition item, which occurred on the night of July 30, has concluded in the Lublin Voivodeship of Poland. The regional District Prosecutor's Office has officially confirmed the nature of the object that fell near the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia.

Expertise results: a missile from the Moscow region

Marcin Kozak, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor's Office in Lublin, made an official statement revealing the details of the ammunition identification. According to him, Polish specialists conducted a thorough inspection of the scene and gathered sufficient evidence to establish the origin of the object.

"Preliminary actions to inspect the scene and discovered traces, that is, elements of the aerial object, allow us to unequivocally confirm what object we are dealing with. We are talking about a Kh-101 missile manufactured in the second quarter of 2026 at one of the enterprises in the Moscow region," Kozak is quoted by the Ukrinform agency.

Ukrainian experts, who arrived in Poland on Thursday evening, were involved in the process to conduct a detailed analysis. Their participation became a key factor in confirming the origin of the ammunition.

Chronology of events and reaction of the authorities

The incident occurred against the backdrop of a massive Russian strike on the western regions of Ukraine. On the night of July 30, an air raid alarm was sounded in eastern Poland. Residents of the Lublin Voivodeship reported powerful explosions, after which a large crater was found in the field.

Initially, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybyga, stated that a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile flew over Polish territory. Later, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that the fallen ammunition was equipped with a warhead and most likely came from Russian territory.

Currently, Polish authorities are continuing their work at the site of the fall, collecting additional data for further investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
