FC Polissya Zhytomyr has announced significant changes to its club management structure. According to the team's press service, a Supervisory Board is being established at the club, and Alyaksandr Khatskevich is concluding his work as vice president. Sport RBC.UA reports this citing the official Polissya website. The reorganization, the club states, is being carried out with an eye toward the management practices of leading European teams and is designed to make the club's work more systematic and transparent.
New Management Model
According to the press service statement, the new management structure is built taking into account approaches adopted in top European clubs. The key element of the reform is the Supervisory Board, which is intended to become a link between the club's main operational areas. Polissya emphasizes that the goal of the innovation is to strengthen interaction between key departments, improve internal communication, and ensure timely, coordinated decision-making at all levels.
Reorganization Priorities
The club explains that the creation of the Supervisory Board aims to increase governance and coordination. According to management's design, such a structure will allow decisions between the sports, administrative, and commercial blocks to be coordinated faster, reducing the risks of operational misalignment. Thus, Polissya is banking on the institutionalization of management, adopting the experience of large European organizations where supervisory bodies are responsible for strategic control and the balance of interests.
Khatskevich's Departure
Within the framework of the new management model, the position of vice president held by Alyaksandr Khatskevich is not provided for. It is precisely in this regard that the former player and coach is leaving the Zhytomyr club. Khatskevich joined Polissya in the summer of 2025, less than a year ago, and now his work at the club is ending due to changes in the organizational structure, rather than for sporting or personal reasons.
Journey into Ukrainian Football
Alyaksandr Khatskevich came to Ukraine in 1996 when, alongside Valyantsin Byalkevich, he transferred to Dynamo Kyiv. He played for the capital club until 2004, after which he continued his playing career at Chinese club Tianjin Teda. Khatskevich finished his playing career in 2007 while playing for Dynamo Minsk, where he also began his coaching career.
Coaching Career
In 2010, Khatskevich became an assistant coach at Dynamo Kyiv, and from 2014 to 2016 he headed the national team of Belarus. In 2017, he took charge of Dynamo Kyiv and worked with them for two years. After that, the coach returned to the Zhytomyr club, where he served as vice president until the announcement of the reorganization. Separately on this week's football agenda is the historic achievement of Andriy Yarmolenko, who scored his 125th goal in the UPL and became the top scorer in the history of the Ukrainian championship.
