Zhytomyr football club Polissya has officially announced a new addition to its squad. The club has signed a long-term contract with Aborgi Vince, a defensive midfielder from the Ghanaian club Dansoman Wise XI. The transfer of the 18-year-old midfielder has become one of the key news stories on the eve of the new Ukrainian Premier League season.

Long-term ambitions and contract scheme

The management of the Zhytomyr club is betting on the African foreign player for the long term. The agreement with Vince is structured on a "3+1" basis, indicating a serious interest from Polissya in developing the player's talent. Despite the promising contract, initially, the footballer will play for Polissya's youth team, U-21.

Currently, the midfielder is with the Ghana U-20 national team. He has been included in the squad for the national team and will participate in the African Cup of Nations qualifying matches, which will be an excellent start for his career in Europe.

A historic moment for Polissya and the challenges of European competitions

The newcomer joins the team during a historically significant period. At the end of the 2025/26 season, Polissya won the bronze medals of the Ukrainian Premier League, securing the club's right to debut on the European stage. The team under head coach Ruslan Rotan is preparing to face serious challenges.

The team's schedule for the coming months looks extremely busy. On July 23 and 30, the Zhytomyr team is set to play Conference League qualifying matches against Danish club Copenhagen. This opponent will be the first serious test for the updated squad on the international stage.

Start of the new UPL season

In addition to European competition tasks, the club is preparing to resume the domestic championship. The UPL season for the "wolves" starts on August 2 with a home match against Odesa's Chornomorets. The arrival of a new defensive midfielder should strengthen the squad's depth ahead of this responsible series of games.

Previously, rumors circulated in the football community that Polissya was preparing to transfer a star defensive midfielder, managing to outpace Kyiv's Dynamo and Donetsk's Shakhtar in the fight for the player. Signing Vince confirms the Zhytomyr club's ambitions to strengthen the team before the next stage of development.
