On October 19, power outage schedules will be in effect across Ukraine. Ukrenergo reported this, emphasizing that the restrictions are a consequence of massive Russian strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities. The company warns that the situation in the power grid may change depending on potential new shelling from Russia.
Reason for Restrictions
According to Ukrenergo, the need to introduce outage schedules is driven by the state of the power system following attacks on infrastructure. The agency notes that in the event of new Russian strikes, the restriction parameters may be adjusted, so the exact schedule and outage details for each region should be checked on the official pages of local distribution system operators (oblenergos).
How the Schedules Will Operate
According to previously published data from Ukrenergo, during such periods, capacity restriction schedules for industry and business are in effect in all regions, while hourly outages for all categories of consumers, ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 queues, are introduced in some oblasts. Restrictions generally cover daytime and evening hours, but current figures and timeframes for October 19 should be verified with the regional operator's announcements.
Call to Consumers
Ukrenergo urges citizens to use electricity economically during the hours when power is available according to the schedule. The company points out that careful consumption during periods of electricity availability helps reduce the load on the grid and lowers the risk of unscheduled outages.
Context: Recurring Outages
The introduction of outage schedules in recent days has become a recurring practice: restrictions were already in effect in a number of regions on October 16 and 18. According to Yasno CEO Serhiy Kovalenko, Ukrainians should prepare for potential electricity supply disruptions this winter, as Russia continues to attack energy infrastructure, and even large-scale restoration work does not guarantee uninterrupted supply.
Changes in Kyiv
It is separately noted that Kyiv has changed its power outage rules: schedule queues no longer apply. This change affects the capital region and does not cancel Ukrenergo's general recommendations on economical electricity consumption during scheduled hours.
