On the night of August 5, the capital of Ukraine was subjected to a massive strike by Russia. The attack, during which the enemy used missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, resulted in serious destruction and human casualties. According to the latest data, the number of casualties in Kyiv has increased to 26 people.
Updated information on the consequences of the strike was announced by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko in his Telegram channel. The city head confirmed that 26 residents of the capital have been injured as a result of the enemy attack. Of these, 16 people were hospitalized and are currently in city hospitals receiving necessary medical care.
Scale of destruction and fire containment
The consequences of the night attack are being recorded at more than seven locations. Strikes hit the Holosiivskyi, Obolonskyi, Desnyanskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi districts of Kyiv. Damage to residential infrastructure has been recorded in these districts. In addition, fires broke out at industrial facilities and warehouses as a result of the shelling.
Employees of the State Emergency Service (SES) carried out large-scale work to extinguish the fires. According to official data from the department, all fires in Kyiv have currently been extinguished. Rescuers also reported the containment of an ammonia leak that occurred in the Holosiivskyi district during the attack.
Results of the night strike
Unfortunately, the attack was not without casualties. One person died as a result of the rocket strike. The situation in the city remains tense, however, emergency services continue to work on eliminating the consequences and restoring normal life in the affected areas.
