Two pallets of Zotac GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards have gone missing at Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo, Brazil. According to the cargo recipient, the total value of the shipment is approximately 2.5 million Brazilian reals — roughly $500,000. The accelerators were addressed to local electronics distributor Oderco, but upon arrival at the airport, the shipment simply vanished, according to the company. The incident was publicly disclosed by Oderco President Matos, who posted a video describing the situation on social media.
Incident in Guarulhos: Cargo Disappears After Arrival
According to the distributor's statement, the batch of graphics cards was delivered to the airport, but at some stage of further processing and release, the cargo stopped showing up in the system. At the time of publication, no official information had been provided regarding the exact stage of transportation at which the pallets disappeared — during unloading, at the customs warehouse, or in the logistics hub. Responsibility for the incident has also not been established: neither airport administration, customs services, nor logistics operators have publicly commented on the incident.
Distributor's Statement: A Precedent in Years of Practice
According to Matos, the company has been importing electronics since 2008 and throughout its history has never encountered such a large cargo loss. The distributor stated that it has already contacted the responsible organizations demanding explanations regarding the fate of the graphics cards, but as of publication, has not received any official clarifications. Thus, at present, the incident is confirmed only by the cargo recipient, with no independent verification from airport and customs authorities.
Price Gap: $500k Wholesale, Up to $7,000 Retail
Notably, the stated $500,000 reflects the cost of the shipment specifically for the distributor, while the retail price of the GeForce RTX 5090 is noticeably higher. Amidst sustainably high demand, the market value of the accelerators reaches $5,000–$7,000 compared to the manufacturer's suggested retail price of around $2,000. This means that the real market value of the vanished batch in retail equivalent may be significantly higher than the wholesale estimate, intensifying interest in the cargo's fate.
Who Is Responsible: No Official Comments Yet
At present, it remains unknown at which stage of transportation the graphics cards disappeared and who bears responsibility for what happened. No official comments have been received from the administration of Guarulhos Airport, customs services, or logistics companies. The situation remains open: the distributor is awaiting explanations, and public discussion of the incident is limited to Oderco's statement and the distribution of the corresponding video on social media.
