The Russian bridgehead north of Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region is noticeably shrinking under heavy pressure from the Ukrainian Defense Forces. This was stated by the speaker of the Joint Forces Group, Viktor Tregubov, during the national telethon.
Dynamics of battles in the northern sector
According to Viktor Tregubov, north of the city and in its suburbs, the only noticeable Russian bridgehead is gradually decreasing in size and being pressed. The Ukrainian command expects to eventually completely eliminate or significantly reduce this enemy control zone in the area from Dvorichna to Kupyansk itself. Earlier, units of the National Guard of Ukraine, in particular the Charter brigade, carried out successful assault operations, breaking through enemy defenses and clearing about four square kilometers of territory between Dvorichna and Zatyshne.
Contradictory data
Despite certain successes of the Defense Forces in the north, the situation in the Kharkiv direction remains extremely ambiguous. While official reports speak of the narrowing of the enemy bridgehead north of Kupyansk, analytical reports from the ground and statements by military experts indicate a simultaneous deterioration of the situation on the western bank of the Oskil River. There, Russian troops continue active pressure, holding the previously captured village of Pishchane and trying to infiltrate the area of the village of Kivsharivka, which creates a threat to the logistics of the Ukrainian group.
Expert assessment of the situation and enemy tactics
Military analysts note that the battles are of a counter and extremely fierce nature. The presence of a water barrier in the form of Oskil creates additional tactical difficulties for the forces holding bridgeheads on the western bank. Nevertheless, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold the initiative in certain areas, inflicting significant losses in personnel and equipment on the occupiers, despite the enemy's attempts to regroup and increase pressure.
Consequences and future prospects
The further development of events in the Kupyansk direction will depend on the ability of Ukrainian units to consolidate their achieved successes in the north and neutralize the threat on the western bank of Oskil. Experts emphasize that the stability of defense in this region is of key importance to prevent new offensive operations of the Russian Federation in the Kharkiv operational direction in the near future.
