On the night of October 15, 2026, Russian forces launched another targeted attack on Ukraine's critical energy infrastructure. The gas production infrastructure of the Naftogaz Group, located in the Poltava region, was hit by an enemy drone. The enemy continues its systematic shelling of the country's fuel and energy sector ahead of the winter period.

Consequences of the Night Strike and Facility Status

As a result of the kamikaze drone strike, serious damage to technological equipment was recorded at the industrial site. A large-scale fire broke out immediately at the scene. Due to the destruction sustained, the normal operation of the enterprise was promptly suspended until the consequences of the emergency are fully eliminated and repair work is carried out.

Personnel Evacuation and Management Statement

As noted by the state company's press service, tragedy was avoided thanks to timely response and compliance with safety protocols. All employees were in protective shelters at the time of the enemy attack. Acting Chairman of the Naftogaz Management Board Serhiy Fedorenko emphasized that there are no casualties or injuries among the personnel, and specialized services have already begun a detailed assessment of the extent of the destruction.

Context of Regular Attacks on Energy Sector

It is worth noting that this is far from the first attack on the company's facilities recently. On the night of October 12, Russian units already attacked Naftogaz gas production infrastructure, but in the Kharkiv region, where fires also broke out and critical equipment was damaged. In addition, on October 2 in the same region, an enemy FPV drone purposefully struck a Gas Grids vehicle carrying employees going to repair works.
