At the MSPO-2026 international defense exhibition in Poland, the company "Ukrainian Armored Vehicles" (UkrArmored) presented two new armored vehicles — the lightly armored "Saigak-1" and the MRAP-class "Varta-3." This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the company's press service. The presentation took place as part of the company's traditional participation in the Polish forum, where Ukrainian developers annually showcase the latest armored vehicles.
"Saigak-1": a replacement for the everyday transport of military personnel
The light armored vehicle "Saigak-1" is designed for the safe and rapid transport of personnel during combat operations, special operations, exercises, and patrols. In addition to military tasks, the vehicle can be used to respond to the aftermath of natural disasters and man-made emergencies. The hull provides ballistic protection to the PZSA 3 standard and mine protection at level 1 per STANAG 4569. The four-wheel-drive chassis and a 240 hp diesel engine allow a top speed of up to 140 km/h with a range of up to 600 km on an 80-liter fuel tank. The crew consists of two people, with three additional seats for the dismount. Equipment includes front and rear surveillance cameras, an automatic fire suppression system, RunFlat tires, as well as air conditioning and a heating system.
"Varta-3": an MRAP on a German chassis with enhanced protection
The new MRAP-class "Varta-3" is an upgraded version of the previously presented "Varta-2" and is built on the German Mercedes-Benz Unimog chassis. The vehicle's hull provides PZSA 6 ballistic protection and 3a/3b level mine protection per STANAG 4569. The 4x4 all-wheel-drive transmission with an automatic transmission and a 326 hp diesel engine (1,400 Nm of torque) ensures mobility at a total weight of up to 14,800 kg; the top speed is up to 100 km/h. The crew is two people, with a dismount capacity of eight. For the protection of personnel, mine-resistant seats, communications and navigation systems, video surveillance, automatic fire suppression, air conditioning, heating, and a filtration-ventilation unit are provided. For combat tasks, the "Varta-3" can be fitted with a rotating platform for a machine gun or a remotely controlled weapon module.
Statements from management and strategic logic
The company's CEO, Vladyslav Belbas, noted that presenting new products at MSPO in Poland has already become a tradition for the enterprise. According to him, the "Varta-3" was created on a new chassis, which allowed the vehicle to be made cheaper while simultaneously improving its driving characteristics. The "Saigak-1," in turn, is positioned as a replacement for the ordinary everyday transport of military personnel with a more protected variant, which reduces losses when performing routine tasks under conditions of active combat.
Proven in combat
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that the "Varta" armored vehicles and the medical "Novator" produced by "Ukrainian Armored Vehicles" had been tested in the hottest points of the front line. The vehicles' armored capsules withstood hits from suicide drones and fire from heavy-caliber machine guns, protecting the crews. These data confirm that the models presented at MSPO-2026 are not concepts, but serial production samples that have already undergone combat testing.
Context: other Ukrainian exhibits at MSPO-2026
On the same day that "Ukrainian Armored Vehicles" showcased the "Saigak-1" and "Varta-3," other Ukrainian manufacturers also stood out at MSPO-2026. In particular, "Ukroboronprom" demonstrated for the first time a launcher for the "Koral" surface-to-air missile, mounted on the chassis of a Czech Tatra truck. Thus, the Ukrainian defense sector at the Polish exhibition presented both ground armored vehicles and air defense systems, underscoring the expansion of the range of exported products.
