South Korean tech giant Samsung is preparing a revolutionary update for its flagship foldable smartphone lineup. Insiders have revealed details about the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, which will be presented in two different configurations for the first time: a base model and a top-tier Ultra version. This division will allow the company to cover a wider segment of the audience, offering a choice between compactness and maximum performance.

Base Model: Compactness and New Standards

The classic version of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will focus on usability and ergonomics. Engineers have achieved impressive metrics: the device's thickness in the unfolded state will be just 4.5 mm, and the weight will be 202 grams. For protection against external factors, the smartphone will receive an IP48 rating.

The visual component of the base model will be provided by a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x inner screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a 4:3 aspect ratio. The outer display has been increased to 5.5 inches. Under the hood, it will feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, supplemented by 12 GB of RAM (up to 16 GB in the version with 1 TB of storage).

An important change is the redesign of the camera. The main 50 MP module with optical stabilization and an updated 50 MP ultrawide camera will replace the old solutions. However, the telephoto lens with 3x zoom is absent in this version. Power consumption has been optimized: the battery capacity has increased to 4800 mAh, and the charging speed has reached 45 W. According to the European EPREL database, battery life could reach 49 hours.

The device will go on sale in Graphite, Cream, and Lavender colors, as well as an exclusive Pistachio shade. The starting price in the US will be $1899.

Ultra Version: Titanium, Zoom, and Maximum Screen

The direct successor to last year's flagships will be the Ultra version, which will offer users premium materials and expanded capabilities. The model's body will feature a reinforced structure with titanium layers under the display, ensuring increased durability while reducing thickness to 4.1 mm (weight — 218 g).

The main difference of the Ultra is the screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio. The inner AMOLED display has been increased to 8 inches with a resolution of 2504 x 2256 pixels, while the outer screen will reach an impressive 6.5 inches.

The Ultra camera retains the 200-megapixel main camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, which was missing in the base version, has been added. The battery has been increased to 5000 mAh, which, combined with an efficient cooling system, allows for an expected 51 hours of battery life. However, it is worth noting that the battery life is limited to 1200 charge cycles.

The Ultra color palette includes Graphite, Cream, Violet Shadow, and the exclusive Green Shadow. The cost of this version starts from $2099 in the US. The official debut of the novelties is expected at the Galaxy Unpacked event.
