Russia's largest financial institution, Sber, has officially confirmed a drone attack on its data center. The incident has caused widespread resonance among experts and bank clients, given the critical importance of uninterrupted digital infrastructure for millions of citizens and businesses. The official position of the credit organization was voiced by Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, who hastened to reassure the public about the stability of all key business processes.

Incident Details and Management Response

According to Alexander Vedyakhin, the fact of the attack on the server capacities was recorded, but the bank's infrastructure withstood it. «We confirm the fact of the attack. All bank systems are operating normally. None of the employees were injured,» the top manager emphasized in his statement. The statement came in response to journalists' questions about the possible consequences of Ukrainian Armed Forces drone strikes on facilities in the Saratov region, where the attacked site is presumably located.

Experts note that attacks on critical IT facilities of major technological and financial companies are becoming a new reality. Previously, similar attacks targeted the data centers of another tech giant, Yandex. Specifically, on the night of October 11, serious disruptions were recorded in the Yandex Cloud platform due to power supply problems following drone strikes, and two other company data centers had suffered prior to that. Nevertheless, Yandex's experience, which stated the complete preservation of client data thanks to distributed storage across different sites, is being adopted by other market participants.

Contradictory Data

Despite official assurances from Sber's management that all systems are functioning normally and there are no threats to assets and personal data of clients, independent sources and Telegram channels are actively circulating reports of possible local failures and the need to evacuate part of the equipment in Balakovo, Saratov region. While officials insist on absolute protection and reservation of all information flows, industry observers point to growing risks to the physical infrastructure of cloud and banking storages, requiring additional security measures.

Under current circumstances, the financial market and IT sector demonstrate a high degree of resilience due to pre-implemented geo-distributed backup systems. Clients are advised to remain calm and trust only official statements from the bank's press service, which continues round-the-clock monitoring of the state of all secured perimeters and servers.
