Ukraine continues its supplementary admission campaign for higher education institutions on a contract basis. For citizens who already hold a bachelor's, specialist, or master's degree and wish to obtain a second higher education, taking the national multi-subject test (NMT) is not required.

Specifics of Enrolling in a Second Degree

In the current year 2026, standard bachelor's admissions in Ukrainian universities are generally based on NMT results from 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026. However, applicants who already possess a higher education degree and are applying for a second degree are subject to different rules. In such cases, universities conduct their own internal professional entrance examination, the results of which are used for the competitive selection.

Deadlines for Supplementary Admission and Contract Terms

The main wave of application submissions for budget-funded and contract positions concluded on August 1. Nevertheless, higher education institutions are permitted to conduct an additional intake exclusively for contract programs. Official enrolment under this procedure will run until October 15, 2026, offering an opportunity to applicants who missed the main deadlines.

Important Nuances of the 2026 Admission Campaign

It is worth noting that alongside undergraduate programs, supplementary admissions for master's programs continue until October 15 for those who did not receive budget or contract recommendations during the main campaign. Meanwhile, as previously reported in media referencing state regulations, supplementary postgraduate PhD admissions in 2026 only allow for contract enrolment in part-time and evening study modes, which do not grant military draft deferment for male students.
