In the NMT-2026, nearly 40,000 applicants failed to reach the minimum score in mathematics. UCEQO Director Tetyana Vakulenko linked this to gaps in knowledge of fractions and percentages that accumulated due to wartime educational losses.

UCCO published the official NMT-2026 report: the average score in German is 156, in mathematics 131.9. Nearly 40,000 participants failed to clear the mathematics threshold.

According to UCHEQA data, 48,590 people failed to clear the threshold score in at least one subject on the 2026 NMT. Nearly 40,000 of them struggled with mathematics, which has become the main barrier to university admissions.

Ukraine's Ministry of Education reported that more than one million students are beginning the new academic year at the country's universities, of which nearly 300,000 are first-year students in bachelor's and master's programs.
