The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a new appointment within the Ministry of Defense structure. Serhiy Boev has become the Deputy Minister for European Integration. His key task will be coordinating international cooperation and turning diplomatic agreements into concrete supplies for the army.

Key tasks of the new head

According to information published in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine's Telegram channel, Boev will take responsibility for developing interaction with international partners. His area of responsibility will include not only negotiations but also the implementation of joint projects aimed at strengthening the country's defense capabilities.

Minister of Defense Yevhen Yermak emphasized that the main goal of the appointment is to transform words into deeds. Boev must ensure:

  • Attracting funding for the needs of the Defense Forces;
  • Organizing the supply of weapons from allies;
  • Developing the Ukrainian defense industry;
  • Implementing long-term security support programs.

Yermak noted that Boev's experience should become a catalyst for strengthening ties with the EU and NATO, as well as help in obtaining additional resources in the security sector.

Context: Ministry of Defense strategy and priorities

The appointment comes against the backdrop of active statements by the department's leadership about the need to end the war as soon as possible. Acting Minister Yevhen Yermak previously stated that one of the main tasks is to stop hostilities so that future generations of Ukrainians, including his own sons, are not forced to take up arms.

Parallel to diplomatic work, the active phase of military operations continues. Yermak confirmed that Ukrainian long-range strikes on Russia's oil infrastructure and industrial facilities must inflict damage on the enemy significantly exceeding the costs of conducting such operations.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the military leadership dedicated to the use of long-range weapons. As a result of the meeting, new priority targets on Russian territory were identified, and the continuation of long-range strike operations was agreed upon.
