As a result of a series of enemy strikes on the territory of Zaporizhzhia District, two people were killed and another 15 sustained injuries of varying severity, including one child. This was announced by Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, as reported by RBC-Ukraine. According to him, Russian forces carried out seven strikes on the district during the recorded period, damaging private homes and adjacent civilian infrastructure.
Nature of the Damage and Response Services
As clarified in the statement by regional authorities, residential buildings in the impact zones were destroyed and damaged, and specialized services are working at the incident sites — rescuers, medical personnel, and law enforcement representatives. They are establishing the exact list of those affected, providing medical aid to the wounded, and assessing the scale of the destruction. The presence of a child among the wounded underscores that it is primarily civilian objects and the permanent places of residence of peaceful residents that come under fire.
Systematic Attacks on Zaporizhzhia Oblast
The strikes on the district are a continuation of the systematic attacks by Russian forces on Zaporizhzhia Oblast and the regional center. According to available data, both civilian infrastructure and public transport are regularly coming under fire. In particular, on August 21, the Russians struck a minibus taxi carrying passengers in Zaporizhzhia with an unmanned aerial vehicle, injuring people. Earlier, on August 19, enemy shelling caused power outages in the city, and residential homes were also damaged.
Expansion of the Geography of Drone Attacks
In parallel with the shelling of the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy has intensified drone attacks on other regions of Ukraine. Thus, on August 21, Russian forces struck a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih with a UAV, where a large number of people were present at the time of the attack. The totality of these episodes indicates that strikes on civilian objects — residential homes, retail facilities, and public transport — are of a regular nature and cover several oblasts at once.
