Servicemen of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have carried out a successful and carefully planned operation in one of the most tense frontline sectors in the Donetsk region. During the execution of special tasks, Ukrainian special forces eliminated an enemy shelter used by Russian occupation forces for covert rest, accumulation of manpower, and further advancement deep into Ukrainian positions. This operation became part of the Defense Forces' systematic work to disrupt logistics chains and thwart the enemy's offensive plans in this operational direction.
Course of the Special Operation and Capture of Valuable Intelligence
The operation began with a sudden assault on an abandoned building where Russian military personnel were stationed. A special purpose group of the 3rd Separate SOF Regiment of Ukraine caught the enemy by surprise, eliminating part of the personnel and seizing valuable trophies, including an enemy radio station. Using intercepted communication channels, Ukrainian fighters promptly analyzed the radio traffic and found out that several more enemy assault groups were scheduled to advance along this route in the near future. It was decided to remain in position and set up an effective ambush. As a result of the coordinated and professional actions of the special forces operators, several more Russian servicemen fell into the ambush. Three occupiers were eliminated on the spot, and one was captured. During a search of the captured soldier, a mobile phone and a radio station were found containing detailed checkpoints, secret routes for the advancement of enemy units, and current commander call signs. The obtained information was immediately transferred to the Ukrainian command for further planning of defensive and counter-offensive operations.
Testimony of the Prisoner and Tactics of Russian Assaults
The captured Russian serviceman shared valuable information during interrogation about the real state of affairs inside the Russian occupation army. According to him, the command of the Russian Armed Forces actively uses the tactic of so-called "meat assaults", throwing frontline groups into the most dangerous sectors of the front without proper fire support. The prisoner also spoke about discrimination and unequal treatment of national minority representatives, strict orders not to provide medical aid to wounded comrades, and extrajudicial executions and killings of soldiers who openly refuse to obey criminal orders from the command. The commander of the 3rd SOF regiment group with the call sign "Viking" confirmed these data, noting that in this direction, the Ukrainian military regularly records the presence of representatives of various national minorities in the frontline ranks. According to him, natives of Yakutia, Buryatia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are sent to the positions first, after which regular professional units, such as the 74th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade, enter the battle to consolidate on captured strategic lines.
General Context and Strikes on Enemy Rears
The successful SOF operation in the Donetsk region organically fits into the general strategy of Ukrainian troops to systematically destroy logistics, ammunition depots, and enemy command posts. It should be recalled that shortly before this, the Defense Forces of Ukraine launched massive strikes against a Russian repair unit in Chystiakove, ammunition depots near Makiivka and Horodyshche, as well as concentration areas of the occupiers' manpower in the Luhansk region. A day earlier, successful missile and artillery strikes hit command posts in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions, an electronic warfare station in the Bryansk region, and a training center in the Kherson region.
