The Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) has clarified that certain categories of citizens are entitled to a separate pension for special merits to the state, which is granted in accordance with Law of Ukraine No. 1767-III. Among the beneficiaries are the fighters for Ukraine's independence in the twentieth century. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing data from the Pension Fund.

Payment amount from March 1, 2026

From March 1, 2026, the amount of this pension for fighters for Ukraine's independence in the 20th century is 5,667 hryvnias and 51 kopiykas per month. The PFU emphasizes that the amount is not fixed: it is reviewed annually taking into account the increase coefficient, so the payment amount may rise in the future.

A separate pension, not a surcharge

The Pension Fund draws attention to an important nuance: this is not a simple surcharge to a regular pension, but a separate type of pension for special merits to the state, which has its own procedure for assignment. This means that the right to the payment and its amount are determined by separate provisions, rather than being automatically tied to the size of the basic pension payment.

Context: age-related supplements for pensioners aged 70–80

Previously, RBC-Ukraine reported that pensioners aged 70 to 80 in Ukraine are automatically granted age-related compensatory supplements. The largest amount — 570 hryvnias per month — is received by people aged 80 and over, and there is no need to apply to the Pension Fund separately for this.

Early retirement for certain categories

Certain categories of Ukrainians can retire as early as age 50. As the PFU clarifies, this includes some miners: men require at least 25 years of total work experience, women — at least 20 years, provided they have the corresponding number of years of direct underground work.
