On Wednesday, September 16, 2026, Russian occupiers struck the central part of Kropyvnytskyi in Kirovohrad Oblast. According to official data, four people were injured as a result of the enemy attack, and residential buildings, a kindergarten, and a car were damaged. This was announced by Andrii Raikovich, head of the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration, whose words are quoted by RBC-Ukraine.
Casualties and scale of destruction
“As of now, four injured people are known. Three of them are receiving assistance in medical institutions. One woman refused hospitalization,” Raikovich stated. According to him, the attack damaged several private houses, a kindergarten building, and a car. The regional head emphasized that the situation is under constant control and all necessary services are working at the scene. Photographs from the scene show firefighters in protective gear containing a fire in the area of destroyed brick structures shrouded in thick smoke.
Target of the attack — a critical infrastructure facility
A number of Ukrainian publications, citing intelligence and security service data, clarify that the target of the Russian strike on Kropyvnytskyi was a critically important infrastructure facility. Thus, NV and 24tv note that the attack was directed at an infrastructure object in the center of the city, which explains the scale of destruction in the adjacent residential area. This confirms the systematic nature of Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure, which in recent weeks have become regular and affect both military and civilian objects.

The strike on Kropyvnytskyi became part of a multi-day wave of Russian attacks on Ukrainian territory. On September 15, drones attacked a gas station in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, injuring one person; a hit on warehouse facilities was recorded in the Obolonskyi district of Kyiv. On September 14, Russian military struck a road in Pavlohrad in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in broad daylight: a fire broke out, one person was killed, and five others were wounded. On the same day, September 16, as a result of a drone attack, the set of the “95th Quarter” studio was destroyed — along with the premises, the props, costumes, and sets accumulated over 20 years of the troupe's work burned down.

In the official statements of the head of the Kirovohrad Regional Administration, the emphasis is placed on the damage to residential houses, a kindergarten, and a car, as well as on the four injured. At the same time, NV and 24tv sources indicate that the direct target of the strike was a critical infrastructure facility.
