On the night of September 9, Russian military forces carried out a strike on Dnipro. According to RBC-Ukraine, citing Dmytro Zelenetsky — no, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Gancha — several fires broke out in the city as a result of the attack. The flames engulfed a warehouse of building materials and a private residential house. It was in the basement of this damaged house, as became clear immediately after the strike, that people could have been trapped, which required the immediate organization of search and rescue operations.
Course of the Rescue Operation
Within minutes of the report on possible casualties, State Emergency Service (SES) rescuers pulled three people from the rubble who had been in the basement of the house at the time of the strike. As of the time of publication, medics are providing the rescued individuals with the necessary medical assistance. Photographs published in the regional administration's official channels show State Emergency Service personnel in protective gear — helmets with face shields and uniforms bearing the "Ukraina DSNSh" patch — engaged in such operations.
Contradictory Data
In presenting the chronology of attacks on the Dnipropetrovshchyna region, a discrepancy in the figures on the consequences of the September 5 strike on Kamianske has been noted. The original text, citing regional reports, states that the number of victims in Kamianske rose to four killed and five injured. However, in Deutsche Welle materials covering the same strike, a higher figure appears in the headline and text — five killed and five injured. Thus, there are currently two versions regarding the number of killed in Kamianske: four or five. Until the regional authorities officially reconcile the data, both figures are presented as unverified.
Series of Attacks on Dnipropetrovshchyna: Chronology
The days preceding the September 9 night strike in Dnipropetrovshchyna also passed under the sign of massive shelling. On September 6, as a result of attacks on four districts of the region, one person was killed and six more were injured. On September 5, Russian military forces struck Kamianske, where, as noted above, killed and injured were recorded. On September 2, the enemy carried out an air strike on Dnipro itself: at that time at least two people were killed in the city, and food warehouses of one of the retail chains were damaged.

On the same September 2, Russian military forces attacked a passenger train in Dnipropetrovshchyna with an unmanned aerial vehicle. Thanks to a timely evacuation, passengers and railway staff were not injured. The totality of these events shows a sustained intensity of strikes on the region over the course of the week that ended with the night attack on Dnipro on September 9, during which three people were rescued from the rubble.
