The night of July 30 was tragic for the settlement of Radushne in the Kryvyi Rih district. As a result of a powerful missile strike by Russian forces, a private house where a large family lived was completely destroyed. Rescue operations that lasted all night revealed the terrible consequences of the attack: the parents and their seven children died under the rubble.
The Tragedy of the Voronov Family
The victims of the strike were 47-year-old Artem Voronov and his 41-year-old wife Elena. With them in the house were their seven minor children: 17-year-old Mark, who was studying to be a railway worker in Kryvyi Rih, as well as schoolchildren Dominika (15), Viorica (14), Zachariah (12), Azariah Ilay (11), Federica (10), and six-year-old Emilia.
According to the grandmother of the deceased, Artem and Elena were raising ten children and were already grandparents to three grandchildren. At the time of the attack, a one-and-a-half-year-old grandson, Artem, who had come to visit, was also in the house. They all ended up under the debris of the destroyed building.
The Voronov family was connected to the army: the eldest son of the deceased, Daniil, currently serves as a captain in the artillery forces. Two other adult children of the couple — daughter Aurica and son Matvey — live abroad, in Germany and Poland respectively.
New Weapons: Theory of North Korean Missiles
Specialists and security sources suggest that a ballistic missile of North Korean manufacture may have been used for this strike. Yuri Ignat, Head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force, previously stated that Russia was using KN-23 type missiles during night shelling.
Experts note that a long pause in the use of ballistic missiles from North Korea indicates that Moscow has received a new batch of weapons from Pyongyang. If the fact of the use of a North Korean missile is confirmed, this will be the first case of the use of such weapons in the war in almost a year.
Reuters also noted that Russia has already used North Korean missiles to strike Ukraine previously. The obtained stock allows Russian forces to maintain and increase the intensity of shelling of civilian infrastructure and cities against the backdrop of the current intensification of air attacks.
Consequences of the Attack
The situation at the scene remains critical. According to preliminary information, eight people were injured as a result of the missile strike, including two children. Another five people are missing. The rescue operation at the site of the impact lasted all night as rescuers cleared the rubble in search of survivors.
