On the evening of August 28, 2026, Russia carried out fresh strikes on Kyiv and the Kyiv region. According to preliminary data, two people were injured as a result of the attacks — one in the capital and one in a suburb. Large-scale fires broke out at the impact sites of the munitions, and rescue crews are still working to extinguish them at the time of publication.

This was reported in their Telegram channels by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration Timur Tkachenko. According to Klitschko, by the evening one casualty from Russian shelling had been recorded, preliminarily, in the Sviatoshyn district of Kyiv. Tkachenko added that another person was injured in the Boryspil district: “A man sustained a shrapnel wound and was taken to a local hospital,” the head of the regional administration clarified. He also noted that, at the time of his statement, the enemy attack on the region was still ongoing.
Two days in “extremely difficult conditions”: the work of rescuers
The State Service for Emergency Situations published video of fire-fighting operations in the Kyiv region following Russian “strikes” on August 27–28. “2 days of work in extremely difficult conditions… Thank you for your courage and resilience,” reads the agency’s statement. According to RBC-Ukraine, the aftermath of a Russian strike is still being dealt with in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region: rescuers are simultaneously working at three locations with fires. In addition, due to the attack on Vyshneve in the Kyiv region, a hypermarket of the FOZZY chain was damaged.
38 attacks in two days: the terror continues
According to available data, Russia carried out 38 attacks on Kyiv and the Kyiv region in two days, continuing to terrorize the city and the region. According to BBC reports, the strikes in recent days have affected, among other things, logistics facilities in Kyiv and the region. The repeated massive attacks turn every evening in the Kyiv agglomeration into a test of endurance for rescue services and civil defense.
