On Monday, August 31, 2026, Russian military destroyed yet another distribution center of the Aurora supermarket chain in the Kyiv region as a result of a fresh strike. This was reported by the retailer's co-founder Taras Panasenko, who emphasized that the attack was not the first on the chain's logistics facilities in recent weeks. According to him, no employees were injured, as all of them were in a shelter at the time of the strike, in compliance with safety rules.

A Series of Strikes on Aurora's Logistics

The destruction of the distribution center on August 31 was a continuation of a series of attacks on the chain's infrastructure. As Ukrainian media remind, on August 27 a Russian strike on the Kyiv region destroyed another Aurora distribution center, where, for the same reasons, no staff members were injured. Earlier still, on August 22, the occupiers launched a missile strike on the chain's distribution center, resorting to the tactic of re-striking the facility at the moment when rescue workers had already arrived to deal with the consequences of the first hit.

Consequences of the Attack and the Overall Situation in Kyiv

The chain's co-founder noted that the full extent of the attack's consequences on the distribution center could be assessed later. Meanwhile, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that on August 31, as a result of the attack on the city and the region, six people were injured, three of whom were hospitalized in city hospitals with serious injuries. In addition, on the night of August 31, according to Ukrainian media, Russian military struck a VARUS chain warehouse in the Kyiv region, indicating the targeted nature of the strikes on retail warehousing and distribution infrastructure.

The Significance of Strikes on Distribution Centers

The destruction of distribution centers directly affects the supply chains of everyday consumer goods: such facilities ensure the supply of the chain's stores in the region. Repeated strikes on Aurora's logistics over a short period (August 22, 27, and 31) indicate that Russian military regard the retailer's warehousing infrastructure as a priority target. At the same time, according to statements by the chain's representatives, compliance with safety rules and the presence of shelters made it possible to avoid casualties among staff in each of the incidents.
