The city of Sumy has faced severe power supply disruptions following another hostile shelling. According to local authorities and energy companies, part of the regional center was left without electricity as a result of targeted strikes by the Russian military.
Consequences of Strikes and Emergency Outages
As reported by Sumyoblenergo representatives, emergency power outages for consumers were recorded during the daytime. Energy crews promptly began eliminating the consequences of the strikes, but the scale of the damage requires time to restore stable electricity distribution in the grid. Consumers were urged to treat the situation with understanding.
Glide Bomb Airstrikes on Residential Areas
Serhiy Kryvosheyenko, Head of the Sumy City Military Administration, clarified the details of the attack. According to him, Russian forces launched airstrikes using six guided glide bombs (KABs) targeting Sumy and the Sumy community. Impacts were recorded at three locations in the Kovpakivskyi district of the city, as well as in the Pishchanske starostate.
Casualties and Infrastructure Destruction
As a result of the strikes on the private residential sector, approximately six people were preliminarily reported injured. Rescue services, medics, and specialized personnel are working at the impact sites. It is worth noting that the region has been subjected to regular attacks in recent days: shortly before this, strikes on a school and residential buildings caused casualties.
Controversial Data
Official reports and operational messages from various sources show discrepancies regarding the exact number of casualties during the recent attacks, as well as estimates of total damage to civil infrastructure. While emergency services record preliminary figures on the injured in the private sector, local monitoring channels report potential additional destruction of utility networks requiring detailed verification by specialized agencies.
