The Sviatoshyn District Court of Kyiv has selected a preventive measure for Vasyl Honcharuk — the organizer of the exhibition that became the target of a Russian missile strike. The court granted the prosecutors' request and sent the suspect into custody for 60 days.
As reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the Office of the Prosecutor General and the "Suspilne" TV channel, the court refused to consider alternative options, such as bail. Honcharuk is charged with official negligence under Part 3 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Defense Position
Vasyl Honcharuk's lawyers attempted to avoid detention, calling the prosecution's demands unfounded. However, despite objections, the defense did not submit a counter-request proposing an alternative preventive measure.
During the hearing, lawyer Andriy Domansky requested that the suspect be placed on bail, citing his public activities. Nevertheless, the court decided in favor of detention in a pre-trial detention center (SIZO).
Lawyers' Comments
Defense representatives refused to comment on the details of the pre-trial investigation, citing the need to clarify numerous circumstances. According to one of the lawyers, all actions by the defense side will be conducted exclusively in an official capacity, within the framework of court hearings.
"There are many specific circumstances that will need to be clarified. Therefore, for now, the defense side will not provide any comments or detailed explanations," the defender stated.
