Tuesday, July 20, will be a true test for both meteorological systems and residents of Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the country will be hit by a wave of contrasts: in some places, the air will heat up to extreme values, while other regions are expected to experience heavy downpours and gusty winds.
Geography of bad weather
According to the forecast presented by RBC-Ukraine, the sky over most of the country will be overcast with temporary clearings. However, calmness will not affect all regions. The weather in the east and southeast will remain relatively stable, while the northern and central regions will face precipitation.
Forecasters warn of the following risks throughout the day:
- Moderate rain is expected across the entire territory, except for the southeast.
- In the northern and central regions, precipitation may intensify into heavy downpours.
- Thunderstorms are not ruled out.
- Hail is forecast in certain areas.
- Gusty winds with gusts up to 15–20 m/s are possible.
Temperature regime
Despite the threat of bad weather, the heat does not subside. During the day, the air temperature will range from 25 to 30 degrees Celsius. The most comfortable conditions will remain in the western part of the country, where thermometers will show 22–27 °C. In the south and east of Ukraine, temperatures will reach their peak — up to +33 °C.
Situation in Kyiv and the region
The capital region also falls into the zone of influence of unstable weather. Cloudy skies with clearings are expected in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms will occur in places. Residents of the suburbs should be especially vigilant: hail and wind intensification to gusty values are forecast in certain areas.
