Residents and guests of Kyiv will face temporary changes in the city's transport scheme over the coming weekend. From August 6 to 7, municipal services will carry out extensive repair work, affecting both motorways in the Desnyanskyi district and pedestrian zones in the very center of the capital.

Asphalt repair in the Desnyanskyi district

The most significant changes for motorists will affect Heroes of Energetyky Street. From 19:00 on August 6 until 9:00 on August 7, traffic will be partially restricted. Road services will begin restoring the asphalt concrete pavement on the section from building No. 6 on Heroes of Energetyky Street to the intersection with Ronald Reagan Street.

Work will be carried out in both directions. However, according to a statement by municipal workers, a complete closure of the street is not planned. The repair will be carried out in stages, which will allow the capacity of the highway to be maintained, albeit with certain difficulties.

Restrictions for pedestrians on Maidan Nezalezhnosti

In the center of the city, in the Shevchenkivskyi district, repair work will affect pedestrians. From 9:00 to 16:00 on August 6 and 7, movement in the underground passage on Maidan Nezalezhnosti will be partially restricted.

As with the roads for cars, a complete blockage of the passage is not provided for. The repair of the crossing will take place in turns and in stages to minimize inconvenience for citizens passing through the main square of Kyiv.

Season of preparation for winter

These events are part of the general plan to prepare the capital's transport infrastructure for the autumn-winter period. The city is continuing the season of repair work on overpasses and key facilities.

In recent months, municipal services have already carried out similar work, causing temporary inconvenience:

  • Traffic was partially restricted on the Southern Bridge due to road surface repairs.
  • Restorative work was also carried out on Naberezhne Highway in the Pechersk district (section from Podil to Metro Bridge).
  • The Kyiv funicular was closed for a long time for scheduled annual repairs.

The municipal corporation asks residents to take these restrictions into account when planning their routes and apologizes for the temporary inconvenience.
