Tragedy in Kyiv: Bodycam footage captures the death of a police officer during a ballistic missile strike
The night of August 1st became one of the heaviest for Kyiv in recent times. Russia launched a massive attack on the Ukrainian capital using ballistic missiles. The power and scale of the strike are confirmed not only by official reports but also by shocking footage from the bodycams of patrol police officers who found themselves in the epicenter of the tragedy.
Video recordings published in the Telegram channel of the Kyiv Patrol Police demonstrate the work of law enforcement officers under conditions of extreme danger. The footage shows officers attempting to save people caught in the impact zone. However, the rescue operation was interrupted by a second enemy missile strike near residential buildings.
“Once again, the treacherous enemy ruthlessly shelled the capital. Enemy missiles were flying at civilians. Unfortunately, today Kyiv residents lost their loved ones. Tonight, we also lost a colleague,” the official statement from the department reads. Law enforcement officers expressed their sincere condolences to the relatives and loved ones of the deceased.
Among the dead is a young patrol officer
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine confirmed that among the victims of the night attack was 22-year-old patrol police officer Yegor Terekhin. His life was cut short during Russia's second strike on the capital. The young officer died while performing his duty, trying to help those injured by the first impact.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 9 people were killed and another 30 were injured with varying degrees of severity as a result of the massive attack. Destruction and damage were recorded in five districts of Kyiv: Solomianskyi, Darnytskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Dniprovskyi, and Pecherskyi.
Consequences of the strike
The scale of destruction was colossal. After the attack, people were trapped under the rubble in several residential buildings. Rescue services were forced to work under continuing threat, clearing debris and searching for survivors.
The situation in the city remains tense. Authorities are urging residents to take precautions and stay in shelters until the air raid alarm is lifted. The tragedy in Kyiv once again reminded everyone of the price paid by civilians and defenders of the country during a full-scale war.
