A day of mourning has been declared in Kryvyi Rih. Local authorities made this decision in response to the horrifying consequences of a Russian missile strike on the settlement of Radushne. The attack, carried out on the night of July 30, claimed the lives of defenseless civilians, including children.
Scale of the Tragedy
According to Alexander Vilkul, Head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, and Alexander Ganch, Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, the victims of the attack were a large family. A missile hit a private house, which was completely destroyed. Vilkul described the deceased as a "close-knit, kind, and believing family".
At this time, the death of at least six people, including three children, has been confirmed. Vilkul warned that the number of victims may increase after genetic examinations are conducted. Additionally, preliminary data indicates that eight people were injured, two of whom are children. Five people are currently missing.
Names of the Deceased
The Novopolske Village Council confirmed that the Voronov family was killed as a result of the strike. Among the victims are 47-year-old Artem Voronov and his 41-year-old wife, Elena. Their seven children were in the house with their parents:
- 17-year-old Mark, who was studying to be a railway worker in Kryvyi Rih;
- 15-year-old Dominika;
- 14-year-old Viorica;
- 12-year-old Zachary;
- 11-year-old Azariah Elijah;
- 10-year-old Federica;
- 6-year-old Emilia.
Context of the Attack
Russian forces struck the settlement of Radushne, located a few kilometers from Kryvyi Rih, as part of a combined attack on Ukraine. Ballistic missiles and strike drones were used that night. Kyiv, as well as the Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsia, and Lviv regions, were targeted.
The most severe consequences were recorded in the Dnipropetrovsk region. One person died in the capital, and at least 15 people were injured in Lviv. In memory of the deceased, July 31 has been declared a day of mourning in Kryvyi Rih.
