Issues of military intelligence and inter-state relations have once again taken center stage in the international agenda. US President Donald Trump has reacted to reports that Russia is allegedly passing satellite imagery of US military facilities to Iran. This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing a statement from the head of state.
Discussion on satellite imagery
The occasion for the comment was the words of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. Earlier, he stated that Russia is providing Tehran with intelligence data, specifically satellite photographs of US bases in the Persian Gulf. According to Zelensky, the goal of such actions is to help Iran target American assets.
During the conversation, a journalist reminded Trump of these allegations. The US President responded that, despite the transfer of data, it did not have a significant impact on the situation. According to him, the US military has completely neutralized the systems that could have used this information.
Comparison with Venezuela
Commenting on the scale of possible assistance, Trump drew analogies with other countries. "How would you think if that were the case? You know, they gave Venezuela a lot of equipment too," he noted, implying that the transfer of equipment and data is not a unique case specifically regarding Iran.
Details of intelligence from Kyiv
Recall that on July 25, Zelensky provided more detailed information. He claimed that Russia regularly passes photos of US military facilities and those of regional countries to Iran. Kyiv, in turn, intends to pass the corresponding intelligence data to its partners.
According to clarifications from the Ukrainian President, only on July 19 and 20, four airbases fell into the zone of interest of Russian satellites: two are located in Bahrain, and one each in Jordan and Kuwait.
Situation in the Strait of Hormuz and cancellation of the operation
Alongside these statements, Iran officially stated that it did not ask the US to resume negotiations and continues to control the Strait of Hormuz. These words came against the backdrop of Donald Trump halting a two-week campaign of airstrikes.
Earlier, media reports appeared stating that the US had postponed preparations for a large-scale military operation against Iran. The main reason for the postponement was the critical reduction of Patriot interceptor missile stocks, which made conducting full-scale actions risky.
