Ukraine has received official permission from the United Kingdom to produce the advanced electronic warfare system Stone Cloak. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement from the government of the United Kingdom. This decision will be an important step in the development of defense-industrial cooperation between the two countries.
Technology proven in combat
The Stone Cloak system was developed by British engineers to protect drones from detection and destruction by enemy air defense systems. The device, the size of a tablet, is installed directly on the drone and creates interference that makes it difficult to detect, track, and guide missile systems.
According to the British government, thousands of Stone Cloak modules have already been transferred to Ukraine and are actively being used on the front lines. The technology has proven its effectiveness in real combat conditions, which became one of the key factors in the decision to transfer production rights.
A new stage of cooperation
British Prime Minister Andy Burnham stated: "Britain stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine, and our support remains unwavering. Stone Cloak is the best example of British innovation, tested on the front lines".
After receiving the license, Ukraine will be able to establish mass production of the system, adapting it to its needs and improving it based on combat experience. This will not only strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities but also create new opportunities for the joint development of the defense industry.
Integration into new projects
It is planned that the Stone Cloak technology will be integrated into the next generation of British long-range strike systems. In particular, the system will be used as part of the Brakestop project — a new budget cruise missile developed in the United Kingdom.
This step is aimed at strengthening the national security of both states and increasing the effectiveness of high-precision weaponry. British authorities have not yet disclosed the technical specifications of Stone Cloak for security reasons.
Meeting of leaders
The decision to transfer production rights was made during the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the United Kingdom. The meeting with the new Prime Minister Andy Burnham became an important platform for discussing issues of Ukraine's protection and the development of joint defense production.
According to Zelenskyy, one of the key topics of the negotiations was the creation of new production capacities and technologies that will help Ukraine counter threats and strengthen its defense capabilities.
