The change of government in the United Kingdom should not become an obstacle to the development of strategic partnership with Ukraine. On the contrary, President Volodymyr Zelensky sees this as an opportunity for a qualitative leap in cooperation. In a conversation with British journalists, the head of the Ukrainian state outlined specific plans to deepen ties with the new Prime Minister, Andy Burns.
Industrial partnership and technology exchange
The central element of Kyiv's new strategy is the issue of military production. Zelensky directly stated his intention to build a large unmanned aerial vehicle production plant in the United Kingdom. According to the President, Ukraine is ready not only to implement this project but also to share advanced technologies with allies.
"I want to build a large drone factory in the United Kingdom, offer new technologies, and share them with our allies," Zelensky emphasized. Kyiv is counting on reciprocity: the Ukrainian side is ready to transfer all accumulated combat experience, expecting a similar step from London.
Gratitude for support and a "new page"
Relations between the two countries are built on a long-term basis. The President of Ukraine once again thanked the British authorities for the assistance the country has been receiving for more than four years. London played a special role in training the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in drone warfare skills and organizing defense against Russian air attacks.
Zelensky believes that the current moment is ideal to "open a new page in history" of relations between Ukraine and Britain. He confirmed that after Andy Burns was appointed Prime Minister, they had a "good conversation" during which key issues were discussed, although the details of the conversation remained off-camera.
Prospects for a visit and new agreements
According to available information, Volodymyr Zelensky will become the first foreign guest of the new British Prime Minister. It is expected that on July 27, the leaders of the two countries plan to sign a new agreement that should consolidate the course for further cooperation. Against this background, the role of the British military leadership in the future is also being discussed: it is known that a well-known British general has headed forces that may enter Ukrainian territory after the end of the active phase of the war.
