The Federation of Athletics of Ukraine (FAU) has officially announced the final roster of the national team for the upcoming European Championships. Ukraine will be represented at the main continental event of the season by 25 athletes who have passed a rigorous selection process.
This information was published on the federation's official website and confirmed by the publication Sport RBC.UA. The formation of the team was the result of a complex licensing and quota allocation process.
Results of the Selection Campaign
By the end of the main selection period, Ukrainian track and field athletes managed to secure 34 licenses. However, the final list was adjusted thanks to additional quotas. As a result of the reallocation, Ukraine received four additional passes, which allowed the inclusion of top athletes who previously did not have a direct right to participate.
Key Newcomers to the Roster
Thanks to the additional licenses, four outstanding representatives from different disciplines made it into the roster. Among them are:
- Alina Kyshkina — specialist in the 400-meter hurdles;
- Oleg Kukota — 110-meter hurdler;
- Marina Kylypko — pole vaulter;
- Roman Horbachev — race walker who competed in the half-marathon.
Who Was Left Out
The selection campaign was not without casualties. 13 athletes did not make it into the final list despite high results in the qualification. Among those who will not be able to participate in the European Championships are renowned representatives of the Ukrainian school of athletics:
- Yulia Levchenko — a famous high jumper;
- Olga Korsun — a triple jump specialist;
- Anna Krasutska — also specializing in the triple jump.
Previously, the Ukrainian national team had already demonstrated a high level of preparation at international events, for example, winning "bronze" in diving at Euro-2026, which became the first award for the team at that tournament. Now all attention is focused on athletics, where Ukrainians will try to confirm their positions in the fight for medals.
