In the autumn of 2026, a significant increase in berry prices is being recorded on the Ukrainian market. The end of the main harvesting season, a decrease in supply, and high demand from European buyers have driven raspberry and blueberry prices to record highs. The domestic market situation is directly dependent on pan-European trends and climatic factors that affected crop yields in key exporting countries.

Record Surge in Raspberry Prices and Shortage Factors

Raspberries have seen the sharpest price increase in Ukraine recently, with retail prices fluctuating between 200 and 280 hryvnias per kilogram in September and October. The summer harvesting season has long ended, and remontant varieties yielding autumn crops are unable to fully cover the deficit. Additionally, Poland has had a major impact on the market after facing crop failures due to spring frosts and summer weather anomalies. Polish processors are actively purchasing Ukrainian raw materials, which has boosted exports and driven purchase prices up to an unprecedented 193–195 hryvnias per kilogram excluding VAT.

The Situation with Blueberries and Strawberries

Similar trends are observed in the blueberry segment, where supply is rapidly declining as the season draws to a close. While the median price was around 200 hryvnias per kilogram in August, it rose to about 250 hryvnias by autumn, reaching 280 hryvnias in retail. Comparable weather issues and production volume drops were recorded in Poland, particularly for late-ripening varieties like Chandler. Remontant garden strawberries also maintain high price positions with a median tag of about 200 hryvnias per kilogram due to limited autumn yields.

Contradictory Data

It is worth noting that certain discrepancies have emerged in the information space regarding the price dynamics of specific berries. While EastFruit analytical reports and industry association data record a confident rise in blueberry prices against the backdrop of seasonal volume contractions, some alternative market monitors have claimed local periods of stabilization or even temporary price drops for this berry in certain retail outlets. Nevertheless, the general trend for raspberries remains unchanged, hitting historical highs both domestically and in export destinations.

Economic Consequences and Outlook

The current market conditions demonstrate the high integration of Ukraine's agricultural sector into the European economy. Export supplies of frozen and fresh berries to European Union countries remain large-scale, despite the domestic needs of Ukrainian consumers. Experts point out that amid rising berry prices, general macroeconomic factors—including currency fluctuations affecting logistics, fertilizers, fuel, and imported food costs—are also placing pressure on citizens' wallets.
