Ukraine has officially initiated an urgent review of the critical humanitarian situation in the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky, Kherson Region, at the OSCE Permanent Council. According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Russian occupation administrations are effectively holding civilians, including underage children, hostage, creating artificial conditions for a large-scale man-made and social humanitarian disaster. This issue has been brought to the agenda of the international community to draw attention to the invaders' war crimes and force Russia to comply with basic norms of international humanitarian law.

Humanitarian Crisis and Unprecedented Support Measures

The situation in occupied Oleshky has reached a critical point where the local population is on the brink of survival due to a complete lack of food, medicine, and basic services. Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian foreign ministry stated that due to the blocking of humanitarian corridors and the inaction of the occupation authorities, residents are forced to literally survive on foraged food, grass, and weeds. In response to this acute crisis, Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a unique humanitarian special operation: using unmanned aerial vehicles, about 4 tons of food were delivered to the town, distributed across 100 different locations to help exhausted people.

Information Manipulation and Occupier Propaganda

Amid mounting international pressure, Russian occupation structures are cynically trying to hide the real consequences of their actions and whitewash the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe. According to operational data from the Ukrainian side, the invaders are preparing a large-scale disinformation campaign, including the production of staged fake videos featuring local residents. The purpose of this propaganda is to force people exhausted by hunger and isolation to thank the occupation authorities on camera and claim they are well-fed and living happy lives.

Contradictory Data

While Ukrainian diplomacy and international observers record a deep humanitarian crisis and starvation in Oleshky, confirmed by successful drone food-delivery missions, the Russia-appointed occupation administration completely denies any problems in the region. Representatives of the occupation structures claim that all social obligations are supposedly being fulfilled in full, labeling the Ukrainian reports as information fakes and provocations. International experts and OSCE representatives continue to verify incoming data against Moscow's total refusal to allow independent humanitarian missions into the settlement.

International Community Reaction and Kyiv's Appeals

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha appealed to the Swiss chairmanship and all OSCE participating states with a harsh call to immediately condemn the aggressor and use all available political and economic pressure on the Russian Federation. Kyiv insists that the town requires urgent international humanitarian aid under the auspices of independent organizations, and Russia must be forced to lift the blockade and release detained civilians. Ukraine continues to actively debunk Kremlin myths on the diplomatic arena.
