Hourly power outages are scheduled to return to several regions of Ukraine on Thursday, October 23, 2026. The national energy company Ukrenergo has announced the introduction of new consumption restriction schedules due to the ongoing capacity deficit in the country's power grid.

Reasons for Introducing Strict Power Supply Restrictions

The need to apply electricity consumption restrictions is driven by the consequences of massive Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure facilities. Restoration work at damaged plants and substations is ongoing around the clock, but a shortage of generating capacity persists. Energy officials emphasize that the schedules are implemented preventively to balance Ukraine's integrated power grid.

Outage Dynamics Throughout the Week

The situation in the power system remains tense throughout the current week. On October 22, several Ukrainian regions were also forced to implement consumption restriction measures. In addition, on October 21, partial emergency power outages were recorded in Kyiv and several other regions due to fresh enemy strikes on critical infrastructure.

How to Prepare for Scheduled and Emergency Outages

Specialists from relevant departments recommend that residents of affected regions familiarize themselves in advance with updated hourly outage schedules on the official resources of local distribution system operators (oblenergos). Citizens are advised to charge necessary electronic devices, keep a supply of water, and have autonomous lighting sources. Energy experts also urge consumers to use electricity sparingly during peak hours on the power grid.
