On October 20, electricity saving will continue in several regions of Ukraine: power outage schedules will apply to ordinary consumers. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Ukrenergo on Telegram. The company specified that restrictions will affect up to two queues for household consumers, meaning that outages will occur according to pre-determined time intervals depending on the region and connected load.

Outage schedules for October 20

According to Ukrenergo, electricity consumption restriction measures on October 20 will be applied out of necessity as part of the current load management scheme. Schedules of up to two queues are provided for ordinary consumers, which means phased outages throughout the day. Specific timeframes and the order of queues are formed at the level of regional distribution system operators, so the exact schedule for each locality is published separately.

Reason for introducing restrictions

Ukrenergo reminded that the restrictions are caused by the aftermath of massive Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy facilities. Fires, equipment damage, and reduced generation capacities following the strikes force operators to balance the grid by controlled load reduction for household consumers. The company emphasizes that such measures are applied to preserve the stability of the energy system and prevent larger-scale emergency blackouts.

Recommendations for consumers

Power engineers advise citizens to monitor updates and outage schedules on the official pages of distribution system operators—the so-called oblenergos—in their region. These exact channels publish up-to-date queue schedules and unscheduled changes. In addition, Ukrenergo urges consumers to use electricity sparingly: turn off unused appliances, avoid simultaneously turning on high-power loads, and, if possible, reduce consumption during the hours provided by the schedules.

Context: restriction trends in recent days

The restrictions on October 20 are a continuation of a multi-day series of power conservation. Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that on October 19, power outage schedules were also in effect in Ukraine for the same reason—the consequences of Russian attacks on energy facilities. Furthermore, on October 18, emergency power outages were introduced in the Kyiv region, causing regular schedules to temporarily cease operating. Thus, on October 20, the system is returning to a planned load management mode with schedules of up to two queues for household consumers.
