Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire, while the Russian Federation finds reasons not to let it happen, - Budanov

The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine stated in an interview with NewsForce that the Ukrainian side has already openly formulated and proposed an immediate cessation of hostilities. According to him, official Kyiv is calling for a full ceasefire, but the Russian side continues to demonstrate the opposite position and avoids peaceful steps.

Kyiv's Position and Moscow's Reaction

As the Head of the OP emphasized, the open proposal of the President of Ukraine aims at the rapid de-escalation of the conflict. At the same time, Moscow, according to the Ukrainian side, shows no readiness to agree to a truce and actively finds arguments why the ceasefire should not take place in current realities. On the other hand, 51 UN member states issued a joint call for Russia to agree to an unconditional ceasefire, reminding that Ukraine officially agreed to this step back in March 2025.

In his opinion, Washington's authority and diplomatic influence open a real chance for Ukraine to move towards ending the long-standing war. The country's leadership is doing everything possible to utilize this international support and bring the long-awaited peace closer.
