Over the past 24 hours and overnight on November 5, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out strikes on a number of military objects belonging to the Russian army in the temporarily occupied territories. According to RBC-Ukraine, this was stated in a report by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The agency emphasized that during the operation, several targets related to the enemy's drone infrastructure, as well as its fire and repair units, were successfully hit.

What exactly was targeted

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, among the successfully destroyed objects are a storage, preparation, and launch base for strike unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as a drone warehouse. In addition, an enemy mobile fire group and repair units of the Russian Armed Forces were also under fire. The General Staff has already released a full list of the targets that were struck over the last day.

Why drone infrastructure is a priority target

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine explains the logic of the strikes by the fact that it is from positions in Crimea that Russian forces launch strike drones for attacks on Ukrainian cities and civil infrastructure. According to the defenders, destroying such facilities and warehouses with drones helps reduce the intensity of enemy air attacks. Thus, the strikes on logistics and launch nodes of UAVs are aimed at weakening the entire chain of preparation and deployment of strike drones, rather than just hitting individual vehicles.

Context: the situation on the front

These strikes are taking place against the backdrop of broader dynamics on the front line. Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that the Defense Forces had thwarted several offensive operations of the Russian army in various directions. The publication also noted where exactly on the battlefield Ukrainian units were able to advance over the last few days. The combination of these operations, according to reports, indicates that the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to combine defensive actions with pinpoint strikes on the enemy's rear and infrastructure facilities.
