The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center (UkrGMTC) has issued the weather forecast for Thursday, September 3, 2026, which forecasters describe as truly autumnal. According to the center, no precipitation is expected across the country during the coming night: Ukraine will be situated "in a field of high pressure," ensuring relatively dry and cool nighttime hours. However, the situation will change during the daytime — most regions will see brief showers, locally accompanied by thunderstorms, caused by the warming of cool, moist air.

No precipitation at night, but cooling

Forecasters emphasize that nighttime temperatures will be "on the low side": in some regions, thermometers may drop to around +5 °C. This is the first noticeable cooling recorded in early September, marking the transition from a summer to an autumn weather regime. No precipitation is forecast across Ukraine at night, allowing the air to cool noticeably under a clear or partly cloudy sky.

Daytime rain and thunderstorms in most regions

During the day on Thursday, September 3, brief showers, locally with thunderstorms, are expected in most regions of the country. Forecasters attribute the precipitation to the warming of cool, moist air, which forms convective clouds and localized downpour events. Thunderstorms and squalls, characteristic of the Atlantic front that earlier brought the first autumn rains, may accompany parts of the territory, so meteorologists recommend accounting for possible weather instability during the daytime hours.

Wind and temperature background

Over the next 24 hours, a moderate westerly wind at 5–10 m/s will prevail, which, according to UkrGMTC specialists, "brings additional coolness." It is precisely the combination of the westerly wind and cool air that shapes the overall temperature background: nighttime temperatures will be low, while daytime temperatures will be comfortable. This regime is typical for early September and corresponds to the average climatic indicators for this period.

Conditions in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast

According to UkrGMTC, Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast can expect variable cloudiness on September 3. Daytime readings will remain within a comfortable range, and the nighttime cooling will be felt more gently than in some eastern and southern regions. Forecasters also remind that the accuracy of forecasts depends on measurement methods: a home thermometer may show values that differ from official meteorological observations, since professional measurements are conducted according to strict standards at aerological stations.
