Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Ukraine will by no means be dragged into the diesel agreement recently concluded between US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. This statement came amid growing tension in diplomatic relations between Kyiv and Washington, as well as ongoing discussions regarding energy security and arms supplies.

Kyiv's Stance on Washington and Moscow's Agreements

Commenting on the recent deal between the American and Russian sides, Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the independence of Ukraine's course in matters of defense and countering Russian aggression. According to him, any attempts to bind Kyiv to such arrangements are unacceptable, and the principled position of the Ukrainian side remains unchanged: in the event of attacks, a decisive and mirror response will follow.

The Ukrainian leader noted that Kyiv is ready to provide comprehensive support to its allies, but in return expects real steps to protect critical infrastructure. In particular, the Ukrainian side has repeatedly advocated for the establishment of a comprehensive energy truce, which would protect civilians from constant strikes.

Difficulties in Military Cooperation and Arms Supplies

A separate topic of discussion was military assistance and the supply of critical weapon systems to repel air attacks. According to the president, Kyiv asked the United States for additional missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, but encountered unexpected restrictions and difficulties in the negotiation process.

Specifically, the head of state expressed open outrage that instead of expected support in air defense, the Ukrainian side faced the blocking of Starlink satellite communication systems. Such actions by strategic partners seriously complicate defensive operations on the frontline.

Prospects for Bilateral Relations and Energy Security

Events surrounding the proposed energy agreement and emerging restrictions on technology supplies pose serious challenges for further strategic partnership. Experts note that Kyiv's refusal to participate in backroom deals demonstrates its determination to defend national interests regardless of pressure from external actors.

Moving forward, the situation will depend on Washington's willingness to take into account Ukrainian demands in security and defensive arms supplies. The lack of constructive dialogue on an energy truce could lead to a further deepening of the crisis in communication between allies.
