Throughout October 1, Ukrainian air defense demonstrated high efficiency by neutralizing 78 enemy UAVs out of the 97 used by Russian forces to attack Ukraine. Among the launched devices, a significant share consisted of modern weapons, including jet-powered drones and 'Gerbera'-type UAVs designed to complicate the work of anti-aircraft crews. Military experts note that the intensity of strikes using new types of weaponry continues to escalate.
Details of the Massive Raid and Air Defense Actions
According to official data from the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy deployed a total of 97 strike UAVs of various types, of which 66 units were jet-powered. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of anti-aircraft missile forces, aviation, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare assets, 78 drones were successfully shot down and suppressed. Notably, among the grounded targets were 55 jet drones, accounting for more than 83% of the total number launched in this segment. As of 6:00 PM, about 10 more strike UAVs were recorded in the country's airspace.
Enemy Tactics: System Exhaustion and New Threats
Russian forces regularly use combined attack tactics, deploying both Shahed-type combat drones and 'Gerbera' and 'Parodia' decoy drones aimed at exhausting Ukraine's air defense system. In addition, the occupiers are increasingly using jet-powered drones with higher flight speeds, which significantly reduces the time available for detection and interception. Previously, on September 30, the aggressor attempted to attack Ukraine with 174 jet drones, and on the night of October 1, launched over a hundred more devices from six directions.
Consequences and Safety Calls
The successful work of air defense forces minimizes damage from air strikes, but the situation remains extremely tense. The military command and local administrations strongly urge citizens to heed air raid alerts and stay in shelters during raids. The massive use of high-speed drones requires sky defenders to maintain constant concentration and swiftly implement new technological solutions to counter aerial threats.
