Experienced Ukrainian athlete Olena Kostevych and titled shooter Pavlo Korostylov have brought Ukraine its first medals at the final stage of the World Cup in rifle and pistol shooting, held in Cairo, Egypt. In a fierce competition, the Ukrainian tandem climbed the podium, winning bronze medals in the mixed team 10m air pistol event.

Road to the Final and Qualification Success

The path of the Ukrainian shooters to the medal began with a confident performance in the preliminary stages. In the qualification round of the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol, Olena Kostevych and Pavlo Korostylov demonstrated the second-best total score among all participants, securing their spot in the final featuring the top four teams.

Dramatic Climax in the Final

During the medal round, the Ukrainian duo spent a long time among the leaders and even contended for the top spot. However, a technical setback proved decisive: an unfortunate shot by Olena Kostevych scored 5.7 points, heavily complicating the battle for the highest step of the podium and depriving the team of a shot at the gold medal.

Final Results and International Podium

Following all shooting series, the Ukrainian pair scored a total of 413.4 points, securing third place and the bronze medals. The tournament winners were the representatives of France with a score of 479.5 points, while Latvian athletes claimed the silver medals with 479.0 points.
