Amidst ongoing challenges for Ukraine's transport infrastructure, "Ukrzaliznytsia" continues to work on improving passenger service quality. An important step in this direction is the return of vending machines to electric trains of increased comfort. The carrier has officially announced the restoration of the service, which will allow passengers to purchase drinks and snacks directly on board.
Restoration of Service on the Lviv – Khmelnytskyi Route
According to information published in the carrier's official Telegram channel and confirmed by RBC-Ukraine, vending machines have already started operating in trains running on the popular Khmelnytskyi – Ternopil – Lviv route. This direction, connecting important economic and cultural centers of western Ukraine, has become the first where passengers can once again use automated retail.
The range of goods in the machines has been expanded and now includes a wide selection of soft drinks, coffee, and quick snacks. Payment is made exclusively via contactless methods — bank cards, which corresponds to modern standards of safety and convenience. The return of vending is seen as a way to improve comfort on the journey, especially for those forced to make long trips in conditions of instability.
Call for Business: Scaling the Project
"Ukrzaliznytsia" does not plan to stop at one route. The railway operator has announced a search for partners among business representatives to install vending machines in other regional trains. The company is open to cooperation and considers various proposals for automated sales.
Business representatives wishing to join the project can send their commercial proposals via email to [email protected]. This indicates that the carrier intends not just to restore the lost service, but to create a sustainable service ecosystem, attracting private capital and initiative to develop infrastructure inside the carriages.
Comprehensive Approach to Safety and Comfort
It is important to note that the expansion of services is taking place against the backdrop of a complex operational situation. "Ukrzaliznytsia" systematically supports passengers during train delays caused by Russian shelling and in the event of direct security threats. In particular, for people whose trains are delayed due to attacks on infrastructure in the Odesa region, the carrier has organized hot meals. Assistance is provided for both passengers and members of the train crews.
At the same time, railway workers remind people of the rules of action in case of a threat. All conductors have undergone appropriate training and warn people about the danger, and it is important for passengers to strictly follow their instructions. The return of vending and the launch of new services, such as ordering books to the carriage, demonstrate that the company continues to seek a balance between ensuring safety and improving the quality of life for passengers.
