U.S. Senator Chris Murphy has made a sharp statement regarding the leadership of the United States, accusing Washington of effectively supporting state terrorism. According to the politician, such harsh phrasing is not just a rhetorical exaggeration, but a statement of the actual state of affairs on the international stage amid the ongoing military conflict.

Criticism of Washington's Financial Policy

Chris Murphy emphasized that the Russian side purposefully and massively attacks civilian infrastructure and the peaceful population of Ukraine. At the same time, the senator argues, U.S. President Donald Trump is intentionally financing Moscow's efforts through his decisions, placing Washington in the status of an accomplice to aggression.

Sanction Relief and Diesel Exports

The reason for such harsh criticism was recent steps taken by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, which allowed supplies of Russian diesel fuel to global markets. The agency has begun issuing temporary licenses, effectively opening access for the aggressor country to international petroleum trade and helping bypass strict restrictions.

Ukrainian Reaction and Analyst Assessments

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already reacted to this decision, noting that Ukrainian citizens are the first to feel the consequences of Russian diesel exports, as Moscow directs the proceeds toward weapon production and continuing terror. Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) also pointed out that Moscow offered no compromises in exchange for such concessions from Washington.
